Philip wasn’t just a witness to the rise of PBSA in the UK; he was one of its primary architects. Starting in the early 1990s, he was among the first to advise lenders, investors, and operators on what was then a nascent asset class. During his tenure as International Director and Chairman of Living Capital Markets at JLL, he led the student housing team to become the preeminent valuers and agents in the sector.

The scale of Philip’s impact is best measured by the landmark transactions he facilitated between 2005 and 2021. He advised on the majority of the UK’s leading PBSA portfolio deals, with lot sizes typically ranging from £200 million to £1 billion. This consistent excellence earned him the title of ‘PBSA Personality of the Year’ in 2018, followed by a well-deserved induction into the ‘PBSA Hall of Fame’ in 2021.
